I’m one of those people who can eat vegetables morning, noon and night – but put a bowl of fruit in front of me and it will likely stay there until someone else eats it.
My logical mind knows that fruit is an abundant source of good-for-me stuff, but my hand just can’t seem to reach for that crispy apple, or fragrant peach.
Berries are a different story. I can eat the whole container of freshly picked berries before you get a chance to pick out just one.
When I was a kid my grandmother had a backyard filled with raspberries. She would have us kids over to pick berries so we could take some home. I think Grandma wanted free labor, but we didn’t mind because she’d come from the house with bowls, sugar and cream (yes, whole cream). We’d take some of our loot and plop those tender berries into a bowl, top them with sugar (like they needed more) and cream. This was a treat to die for, as far as I was concerned.
Anyway, in the spirit of my love of berries of all kinds, I’m sharing a few of my favorite recipes with you in hopes that you’ll share your favorites with me.
- Berry Stuffed Crepes
For breakfast I’m all for smoothies and muffins . . .
For desserts you can’t beat cobblers, crepes and bars . . .
Luscious Berry Custard Cobbler
And why not use berries in your favorite salad dressings and sauces . . .
Grilled Lamb Chops with Berry Sauce
Chipotle Raspberry Salad Dressing
See? I’m all about the berries and I’m hoping you are too.

Sometimes the berries I get from the market don’t even make it home!

I am right there with you! I just love berries!!
Thanks for listing all these delicious recipes! I can’t wait to try some of them out.
I’ve never done this before, but this blog hop is a fun way of sharing. Have a wonderful weekend.
I miss fresh berries from farmers, haven’t had them for few years I guess
That’s rough. I know it’s expensive around here to buy them fresh or frozen when they aren’t in season. Have a good weekend.
Those strawberries and walnuts look so yummy. I love anything with berries as well, this is my favorite time of the year for all the fresh berries at the local markets.

Hi Alessandra – this is my favorite time of year too. There’s so much to choose from at the farmers markets. Have a good weekend.
The same here, I’m a sucker for berries especially blueberries. I just like eating them by itself. Maybe I should try eating them with walnuts like what you have here. I’m sure it will taste good. Have a good week!

It a good combination, but then I love walnuts. Have a good weekend!
I adore cooking (and eating) with fresh berries. I too, could easily sit down and eat them all plain, but adding them to our meals is such a treat! I am so happy that strawberries are back in the markets.

Me too. I bought a flat of raspberries last weekend and they didn’t make it through until Monday and there’s just the two of us.
Although I love pretty much any fruit – I’m a sucker for berries! So many great recipe choices – and I can’t wait to see all of the new links.

I share the same love. I love berries – especially blueberries so much that I *just* finished like 1 1/2 cup of blueberries in a bowl while I blog hop. I thought it’s kind of scary… I’m lucky to live in California where fresh berries and fruits are abundant. If I am a good baker, I think I’d be baking all kinds of baked goods with berries in it. But somehow I don’t have the good baker gene in me (yet).
All these berry recipes are so good, just like how I like them to be!

I’m with you – not much of a baker. Mostly because I can’t afford the extra calories. How lucky you are to have fresh berries available most of the year. They can be expensive here in the off season. Have a wonderful weekend!!
I know it’s not that healthy, but berries and whole cream is something everyone should have at least once a year. And although I like fruit a lot, I have a real soft spot for berries. I eat fruit almost every day for breakfast (whatever in season; right now watermelon rules), but always enjoy peak strawberry and blueberry season. Thanks for all the inspiring recipes!

I have friends who are fruit lovers, I wish I was, but veggies rule for me. It’s a good thing I love those berries!
I always reach for fruit, if a chocolate bar is not in the way first haha. Berries are my fave too so this is a great time of the year. Love the recipes and blog hop. I am sure I have something to contribute.

What a fab link up! I love berries!! They are one of my favorite fiber-licious eats!!
Thanks Kati – I’m hoping cooks will link up some of their more savory recipes. Berries make such a terrific savory sauce. Enjoy the rest of your week.
I too feel guilty because I do not eat enough fruit/vegetables…so thank you for the links…I can sure them.
Hope you are enjoying your week Kristi
Have a good weekend Juliana. I’m off to watch my son get married tomorrow.

I love fruit–it’s not hard for me to eat it. It’s great that you like to eat berries–my trainer keeps trying to wean me from my apple habit onto berries due to the low glycemic index.

Really? That’s interesting. I’m not a fruit eater, but I find apples satisfying and they keep hunger at bay for quite awhile. I can see their point though. Berries are so high in fiber. The problem is that they can often be expensive when they aren’t in season. Have a good weekend.
looks absolutely incredible!

Berries are only truly affordable a few times of year where I live, but when they are, I take complete advantage. Have a good week!
