Seafood recipes often call for seafood stock. I can’t seem to find it at my local grocery store, and I’m not willing to make it myself.
According to eHow I would need to put shrimp heads, shrimp shells and gumbo crabs in a pot with clam juice, onions, garlic and carrots. After I let it simmer for two hours, then sit for another hour doing God knows what, I could strain it.
See? This is not going to happen.
Enter Glace de Fruits de Mer Gold Sauce from More Than Gourmet Classic Stocks and Sauces. The company sent me a variety of their concentrated stocks, including a seafood stock. I saw my chance to avoid eHow’s painful (and expensive) stock making process and try their classic seafood sauce with my fresh cod.
All was well when I served this savory cod recipe. Glace de Fruits de Mer Gold had a deep, rich flavor, and the addition of sweet and mild leeks worked well with the cod.
Be sure to check out these wonderful stocks. They are a bit more expensive than the stocks you buy at the local grocery store. You’ll pay approximately $8 for 4 cups of stock as opposed to $4 at the store, but if you’re looking for a special experience, then it’s worth the extra dollars.
