Please share if you love it!

In our house, Super Bowl Sunday is all about football. The food comes in a close second place.

When my son was a toddler, who knew his life’s passion would be football?

We certainly didn’t, but here we are 30 years later still going to Friday night high school football games. Jason’s a head coach these days, and loving every minute of it.

It’s easy to conclude that football is a big deal in our house, and so is Super Bowl Sunday.

But let’s not forget the food!

Only die hard football fans like my son would watch a football game without food. The rest of us want something tasty to nosh on while we watch our favorite team walk all over the opponent.

To that end, for those of us looking for healthier alternatives, I present my list of appetizer recipes that might fit the bill.

Carol's Three Bean Dip

At a recent dinner party, Carol’s Spicy Three Bean Dip was scooped up and gone before I got more than a bite.

Skinny Corn Dogs

Who doesn’t love a good corn dog? Why not try these easy corn dog bites? I love any appetizer that offers automatic portion control.

Creamy Salmon Stuffed Tomato Appetizers

Creamy salmon stuffed tomatoes anyone? Salmon and cream cheese. What’s not to like?

Creamy Baked Crab and Artichoke Dip

Maybe you’d rather have my coworker’s people-pleasing Artichoke Crab Dip. You’ll never go wrong with appetizer recipes passed down from friends and family.

Lastly, in honor of my football coach son who loves artichokes, this artichoke stuffed with blue cheese dip will make you stop watching the game just long enough to tear off a tender leaf and take a dip.

If you’re a football fan and have a healthy game day appetizer recipe to share, be sure and leave a comment.

Enjoy the game!

Your son was (and still IS!) so adorable! :) I didn’t know he was a football coach. I take it you have been paying attention to the sibling coach rivalry going on between the two NFL head coaches this year. I think it’s awesome.

Thanks for the wonderful appetizer/football party ideas!! I’ll save this for customers who want some ideas.

Thank you! We’re pretty proud of Jason. It’s something to watch someone live their dream. I can’t imagine rising to the level of the NFL, much less having both of your kids make it to the big time! Thank you for sharing my recipes. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the game! :)

It’s amazing how quickly the years fly by, isn’t it? I just read somewhere that short of the holiday season, the Super Bowl is the next biggest food day. Crazy!

Ha! You have a very good point! Frankly, I could never understand why Jay was so willing to get beat up game after game. It was a bit tough for a mom to watch. Have a terrific weekend! :)
