I bet you’re wondering what a strawberry verrine is.
It could be you already know, and my culinary education is lacking; however, just in case you are in the dark as I was, Wikipedia defines a verrine as “. . . a confection, originally from France, made by layering ingredients in a small glass. It can be either sweet or savoury, making a dessert or snack.”
I discovered this fun dessert recipe in a magazine and couldn’t wait to make my own version. I decided I would start with dessert, and what could be more colorful than freshly sliced strawberries, sweet peaches, a store bought cake and whipped cream?
I’d love to hear your ideas to fill these lovely little glasses. Leave a comment and I’ll give it a try!
- 2 cups angel food cake, cut into small cubes
- 2 cups strawberries, sliced
- 2 cups peaches, cut into small cubes
- 2 cups light whipping cream
- 4 medium walnut halves
- Taking a clear, small drinking glass, layer cake, strawberries and whipping cream. Top with a walnut half.
