Louis Armstrong
I’ll bet you think I’ve gone off the deep end. You’re wondering why on Earth I’m quoting song lyrics from Louis Armstrong, and what Louis has to do with cooking. Absolutely nothing.
So why the song? This weekend my son asked his girlfriend to marry him. I realize this isn’t earth shaking news and people get engaged all the time. Still, for my family, adding a new member to our ranks truly makes it “a bright blessed day!”
(Yes, I’m being sappy, but moms have few of these moments in a lifetime.)
Jason and Kieran have been dating for three years, so she’s already family, but now Jason’s making it official and his parents couldn’t be any happier. Kiery is bright, beautiful, and best of all she cooks! This mother-in-law-to-be couldn’t ask for anything more.
You may recognize Kieran as a frequent contributor of scrumptious desserts and some mouth-watering salads.
This Flourless Almond Orange Cake with POM Pomegranate Juice is one of Kieran’s inspirations. If you were my son and you found a woman who can make a cake this amazing, you would be crazy to let her go, wouldn’t you?
My son is a smart man.
So here we are, one happy family with Kieran. From left to right is Grandma Karen, daughter Lauren, Kieran, Jason, husband Mike and me.
Life doesn’t get any better.
