These delicious cookies are full of crunchy walnuts packed with omega 3 fatty acids, and dark chocolate chips rich with antioxidants.
Reduced fat – great ingredients. You’ll have little reason to feel bad indulging your sweet tooth with these cookies!

Serves 24
Ingredients
½ cup light brown sugar
½ cup sugar
¼ cup butter
1 large egg
¼ tsp salt
½ tsp baking powder
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup flour
¼ cup low fat milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup dark chocolate chips
½ cup walnuts, finely chopped
1. Preheat oven to 375.
2. Combine brown sugar, sugar, oil, egg, vanilla and milk in a bowl.
3. Combine flour, oatmeal, salt and baking powder in another bowl.
4. Mix dry ingredients with wet ingredients.
5. Add chocolate chips and walnuts.
6. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto non-stick baking sheet. Bake 8 – 10 minute until browned.
What’s good for me in this dish?
The flavonoids in dark chocolate (60% cocoa or higher) provide antioxidant effects, helping protect against heart disease. Flavonoids also contribute to healthy blood pressure.
Walnuts are very high in omega 3 fatty acids, manganese, copper and tryptophan. Omega 3 fatty acids contribute to a healthy heart. They are known to lower bad LDL cholesterol levels, and raise good HDL cholesterol levels. They also improve and control high blood pressure.
